Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) is one of the most common causes of abnormal vaginal discharge and is caused by a pH imbalance in the vagina. Normally the vagina has a low pH due to the large amount of bacteria that produce lactic acid which occurs naturally and protects against infection. When the pH balance in the vagina is altered, it can cause unwanted bacteria to multiply.
The main symptoms of BV are an embarrassing odour and abnormal vaginal discharge which is usually a watery texture and greyish-white in colour.
The risk of having BV can be increased by using perfumed soaps, douching or using vaginal deodorants. Hormonal changes during the menstrual cycle, semen in the vagina and intrauterine contraceptive device (commomly known as IUD/Coil) are also known to alter the natural pH balance of the vagina.
Uses and Purpose
For temporary relief of Bacteria Vaginosis, alone or in combination with an anitibiotic. Normalises vaginal bacteria and regulates the pH, soothes vaginal itch/ burning and relieves abnormal discharge.

How to use

Boots BV Gel is best applied in the evening.
1 x 5ml tube to be used daily for 7 days.

Consult your doctor if you have any pain around the pelvis or abdomen, discomfort or pain during sex or bleeding between periods or after sex.
Consult your doctor if you are pregnant and notice any unusual vaginal discharge. Do not use the applicator if you are pregnant.
